Intro to Nalbinding - Eagle River 10/21

Nalbinding, or needle-binding, is more than a Viking craft done in Scandinavia. The craft predates knitting and crocheting, with the earliest examples dated by scientists at 6500 BC, found in a cave in Israel, and other artifacts have been found around the world. Many of today’s nalbinding stitches carry the name of the location of where an artifact was found featuring that specific stitch.

During this three-hour workshop, participants will learn to make fingerless gloves using a flat needle and sections of yarn using the Oslo stitch. Students will learn how to start a project, create the Oslo stitch, how to connect rows and finish their project.

Class includes a nalbinding needle and a skein of lopi yarn.
